Launching Soon

Vanguard Learning is working to create a new approach to secondary education, blending Montessori principles with technology-driven learning for students ages 12–14, with plans to grow into high school. Our vision focuses on personalized learning, small mixed-age classrooms, and innovative tools that spark creativity, collaboration, and community.

program overview

Learner-Focused

We’re creating an educational experience where students receive personalized learning, blending academics with real-world experiences. Instead of homework and tests, project-based learning will build mastery, critical thinking, and resilience.

In small, supportive pods, students will explore, take risks, and grow in a compassionate environment. Vanguard Learning will empower them to take ownership of their education, develop essential life skills, and prepare for college, careers, or entrepreneurship. Our future-focused approach will ensure they thrive academically, socially, and emotionally in the real world.

Testing?

Instead of traditional tests to measure progress, we plan to have students participate in MAP testing three times per year. MAP allows for individual growth tracking in each core subject. These results will also guide lesson groupings.

What About Homework?

We’re planning our curriculum and schedule so that Students will have time during the school day to complete assignments while developing time management skills. When at-home work is needed, it will be purposeful and coordinated with students and parents.

Will You Accept IEP’s?

With enough interest to launch our program, we plan to accept IEPs. Student requirements will be reviewed in advance to ensure we have the proper support in place and will be fully transparent about our ability to meet each child's needs.

ongoing exploration and Community impact

In the first month of launch, we will focus on team-building, responsible technology use, and establishing classroom routines like self-management and responsibility sharing.

Each month following, we will tackle a collaborative project that applies critical thinking and integrates lessons creatively, such as Cooking and Chemistry, The Science and Art of Happiness, or Building a Successful City. Projects may include experiences like visiting an escape room and designing their own.

Students will also choose meaningful organizations to support, finding ways to contribute their time and talents to make an impact.

Individually, students will research a topic of their choice, create a presentation, and share it with the class. For high school students, this time will evolve into exploring post-graduate options, including paid internships, apprenticeships, college research, financial aid planning, and aligning post-secondary goals with their interests and family support.

Chalkboard

“We must truly consider this mysterious and wonderful creature which the adolescent is because adolescence, one can say, is not only a period of growth but a great transformation – if you like, a creation.”

— Maria Montessori; 34th Lecture, 1938
